Friendships Against Echo Chambers

This is an attempt to display an intellectual discourse and an evolving friendship. First friends talk about them and afterwards one sees excerpts of their exchanged letters etc. thematically ordered as in „Crisis and Criticism“ or „Fascism“ or „Freud“ or „Marx“. Benjamin and Brecht: Thinking in Extremes. Akademie der Künste, Berlin Tiergarten.

Transparent Flowers and more Dancing Fashion

Hanne’s party. Berlin Kreuzberg.

Packed Trees and A Silicon Lamp

in the darkness of this winter evening – plus 5 pink umbrellas bought for nothing. Linda Kuhn at Bärenzwinger, Berlin Mitte.

I met Trevor Kiernander at the Woodmill with my friend Charlotte Warne Thomas in London. Now he shows his new work (realized within a three month residency in Leipzig – and I am tempted to say that the Leipzig influence can be seen in his approach towards new painting – and I told him that some of them communicate to me altough they are still abstract and non metaphoric. That’s what I really enjoy with these selection of paintings.) at Art Mûr, Berlin Mitte.

Happening Rarely

being invited to a film premiere for family and friends! Esther Bialas shows her new film Wo kein Schatten fällt – produced by Das Kind mit der goldenen Jacke. Such a cool theme for a contemporary film, sliding questions on the depth of feminism, identity and emotional bonds – told from a girl’s perspective (and no man in view to whom all of this would relate to -really great and forwarding). The film reminded me on The Ring, Fight Club and a documentary on bog people (Moorleichen). I hope you will find a renting agency and win! Abaton Kino, Hamburg.

Almost All by Myself

Visiting Elfie. A marvellous view with perfectly fitting Hamburger Shietwedder – you can see the snow edge in the clouds rolling towards you – then a wall of fog. Of course, the architectural details have been knocked at, touched and amost kissed for deliberate provocation. Elbphilharmonie, Speicherstadt, Hamburg.

Stuff Around the Corner + Friends = Fun Night

A missed performance by VJ team Markus Mehr (sound art) and Stefanie Sixt (visuals / animation) invited by my friends Jan Bode and Claire Fristot aka Alice at Spektrum Neukölln (such a nice place!) but a great after party at Schwelgerei, Berlin Neukölln.

WICKED

IMG_5897

is the name of the musical shown in Zurich. A really impressive lightshow, like prisms beaming magical moments onto the stage – a bit too long though. Theater 11, Zürich Oerlikon.

Right before Christmas

Plenty artworks on display. Some of them by friends as Cornelia Herfurtner and Ellie de Verdier, Kasia Marszewski, Natalie Häusler and people I listed here like Roman Schramm and Stephan Dillemuth. Stations Fundraiser & Hors d’oeuvre. Berlin Kreuzberg.

Hands in Motion

Flipping the stationary car. A video piece by Cornelia Herfurtner, David Iselin-Ricketts and John MacLean. I loved the imagery, the lose fit of narrative styles and contents and the whole series of events prior to the screening of this film (see links Cornelia and John). At Cornelia’s place, Berlin Neukölln.
